What is on a Caroat vehicle page?
A Caroat vehicle page shows the free official record for one UK registration: tax status and expiry from the DVLA, every MOT test with its result, advisories and recorded mileage from the DVSA, and the vehicle specification. It flags any mileage reading lower than an earlier one, which is the usual sign of a clocked odometer.
Where does the data come from?
Tax status and vehicle identity come from the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service. MOT history comes from the DVSA MOT History Service. Both are official UK government records and both stay free on Caroat. Paid history, covering outstanding finance, write-off records and stolen markers, comes from a commercial vehicle data provider and is always labelled separately.
Is checking a registration free?
Yes. MOT history, tax status, mileage and specification cost nothing and need no account. The premium report is a one-off £6.99 and adds the records the free register does not show, such as outstanding finance and write-off history.
Why do these pages stay up?
Once a registration is looked up, its page stays available so the same vehicle can be checked again without repeating the lookup. Tax and MOT status refresh on each visit, so what you see is current rather than a snapshot from the day it was first searched.
